An announcement should be made about five minutes before the bride and groom’s entrance alerting guests to clear the dance floor, and the passageway to it. This will also give those guests with cameras an opportunity to get ready. For great photos, keep the following tips in mind.

  • Avoid looking down when you are entering the dance floor; look at each other or at your guests--and smile! When you are dancing, look at your partner or over your partner’s shoulder. Do not look down at your feet!

  • Do your best to maintain your slightly offset position when dancing. This prevents you from blocking each other’s view and helps the photographer get your faces in the photos.

  • Use appropriate dance choreography for the size and shape of your dance floor.

  • Alert family, friends and the catering staff to avoid crossing the dance floor during your first dance and subsequent honor dances. No one wants to watch a video that includes the sight of service personnel moving about and the sounds of plates clattering.

  • During your first dance, pay lots of attention to each other. The dance technique is secondary. If anything goes wrong, recover and keep smiling. Chatting and smiling at each other is natural and adds to the charm of the occasion. For great Kodak moments, focus on what this day is really about and celebrate!
