Working With Your Musicians

Once you've picked a song, make sure your DJ or band knows how you want it played. Popular tunes have been recorded by many different artists and played in many different ways, so provide your bandleader/DJ with specific information about your music. The bandleader should be told what tempo to play the song, for what length of time, and the type of arrangement and feeling you are expecting. It's a good idea to give your band a copy of the song you like, or ask for a recording of the band’s rendition so that you can practice to the version that will be played at your wedding.

Your MC should be provided with a list describing the order of the dances, the participant’s names, the name of their song, and the length of each dance. Also, review with the MC the pronunciation of any unusual names of wedding party or family members.

When it comes to your musicians, communication regarding details is key.
