Destiny Rivera

Destiny has been teaching at Dance Center Chicago since 2022. She grew up dancing and training in Salsa, Bachata, Merengue, Cha Cha Cha, and Cumbia, among other Latin Dance Styles. Starting at the age of 16, Destiny began dancing, directing, and choreographing for her high school Salsa team, taking their choreography to the Chicago Salsa Bachata Festival stage in 2017. Since then, Destiny has trained with Kimberly Rivera, Latin Rhythms Dance Co., Angel Martinez from Kachimbo, Jesus Alejandro from Modern Clave, Adrian Dydynski from Fred Astaire, Zeke Ruvaclaba, and Laura Flores from La Mecca Dance Chicago. In 2023, she won a 1st place ballroom title in the Fred Astaire Mixed Novice division where she danced Cha-Cha, Tango, and Mambo. Destiny discovered her passion for academic study of dance and culture while pursuing her degree in Latin American and Latino Studies at the University of Illinois at Chicago. Today, Destiny combines her technical dance training with her interest in history and culture to help her students become active parts of their community and daily lives.
