Sydney Schiff

Sydney is a contemporary dancer, dance educator, choreographer, and scholar. Her background includes a lifetime of Ballet, Modern, Jazz, and more than 15 years of social dance (Lindy Hop, competitive International Latin and Standard Ballroom, Blues, Fusion, and Brazilian Zouk). She received her Bachelor's in History of Science with a Certificate in the Program in Dance from Princeton University and a Master of Fine Arts in Dance with a Certificate in World Performance Studies from the University of Michigan. In 2018, she began traveling the world full time to teach, perform, compete, study, and continue her research on Brazilian Zouk in preparation for future scholarship. ​She made Chicago her home base in 2019 and when the pandemic hit, she started teaching daily online classes to keep Zouk dancers moving, motivated, and connected around the world. She has been on staff at Dance Center Chicago since August 2023 and currently teaches group classes in multiple styles, private lessons, and wedding couples.
