Salsa Class FAQ

No partner needed. All Dance Center Chicago salsa classes are designed for solo enrollment. We rotate partners throughout class so everyone practices with multiple leads and follows — which is actually how you learn faster.
Group salsa classes are $20 per drop-in. Monthly enrollment packages are available at a discounted rate. Private lessons are also available if you want to accelerate your progress or work on something specific.
We teach salsa On1 (LA style) at the beginner level — it's the most common style in Chicago's social dance scene and the easiest to get started with. Intermediate classes introduce On2 (NY/mambo style) timing and cross-body patterns.
If you've never danced salsa before, start in Level 1. If you've taken a few classes elsewhere, still try Level 1 for your first class at DCC — our structure and vocabulary may differ from other schools. You can always move up quickly if the material is review.
Yes. Drop-ins are welcome at all levels. Just register in advance through our booking system so we can hold your spot — classes have limited capacity to keep the experience good for everyone.
Dance Center Chicago on Lincoln Ave in North Center is the closest dedicated dance studio to both Lincoln Square and Southport. We're a 5-minute walk from the Brown Line Montrose stop, making us accessible from Lakeview, Roscoe Village, and beyond.
